Your ultimate healthcare must-pack travel list

International travel is well and truly back in action!!!!! I have been speaking to a lot of clients for the last few weeks who are off on so many exciting adventures around the world (very very jealous of you all haha!).

Anyway, a lot of them are asking, is there anything I should bring? Anything I should prepare? And I thought that it would be a great idea to write a blog post for you all on this very topic.

I loveeee travelling, I’ve been to 36 countries and counting and have had a lot of experience with what comes in handy.

Firstly, I want to say, if you are only jet setting off in a few months it’s a great time to get some blood tests done and make sure all your nutrient levels are in tip top shape, especially things like vitamin D which is crucial for your immune function. Get a naturopath (like me!) to go through these blood tests with you so we can advise on whether or not they are truly optimal.

supplements to pack when travelling

Here's me at Taj Mahal (any excuse to share travel piccies haha)

support gut health while travelling

Another wonder of the world - Chichén Itzá

Alright, let’s get into it - my ultimate to pack list to take care of your health while travelling!

Saccharomyces cerevisiae (boulardii) shelf stable probiotic strain - This one is commonly in fridge-free formulas so easy to pack in your bags for travel. SB has shown to be effective for preventing traveler’s diarrhoea (those tummy bugs you pick up when you ingest bacteria from food or drink while travelling). It is also really beneficial at treating diarrhoea conditions if you do fall ill.

Electrolytes - my gosh it’s easy to get dehydrated when travelling, whether it’s humid weather, excessive sweating from hiking/exploring etc, too much alcohol or if you do experience diarrhoea. Electrolytes are great to have on hand to rehydrate your cells and keep you feeling fuelled and ready to go!

Digestive enzymes - this one is most important for those who have sensitive stomachs, digestive enzymes can greatly alleviate bloating, gas, bowel changes etc that may be associated with eating out at restaurants or just eating new/different foods in general.

Ginger tablets - I am so prone to travel nausea, so these are always on my to pack list. Ginger is an antiemetic, this basically means it helps to reduce nausea and vomiting, if you get motion sickness, car sickness, plane sickness or sea sickness you’ll want to have this one on hand!

Water bottle with filter inbuilt - making sure you drink clean water while travelling is important, avoiding bacterias and other chemicals added to water. You can check out Waters Co Australia filter bottle here

Radiation protection - if you are travelling by air quite a bit you can be exposed to higher levels of radiation, you can buy ponchos from RadiaSmart which will help protect your cells from damage. Check them out here

Use the code KARINAM to save 10%

Other things you might consider would be a natural sunscreen, natural hand wash gel, some extra vitamin C if you are prone to catching colds and natural mozzie repellant.

It’s also important to note that if you do fall ill overseas and you come back and you feel things are still lingering that you do seek some extra support! Especially if it’s gut related, you don’t want to pick up a parasite and not eradicate it properly otherwise symptoms can last years! Reach out if you’d like further support here.

Happy travelling everybody!

P.S. if you are my client I can help get you set up with all the above supplements if you are interested
